“Where Memory Wanders” invites viewers into a realm where memory, place, and imagination converge. Through painting, mixed media, and photography, works on view explore how four Latinx artists in Los Angeles reveal personal and collective histories. Weaving narratives of family, urban landmarks and identity each artist traverses varied compositions of color and symbolism; revealing the complexities of the contemporary Latinx experience across mediums. While some works depict specific people and places, others are more surreal and fleeting, serving as a metaphor for the ways in which memory can reside within ourselves. Mapping across geographies throughout Los Angeles – the San Fernando Valley, East Los Angeles, West LA, and South Bay; symbols and landscapes become portals both real and imagined, offering fleeting glimpses into a liminal space where memory drifts, lingers, and wanders.
